The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers won in soccer but lost in baseball in Mason Dixon Christian Conference contests Thursday against Broadfording.
Soccer: CVCS 6, Broadfording 0: The Blazers earned their first victory of the season by shutting out Broadfording.
Addison Teal scored four goals, and Reagan Witmer and Kaitlyn Garvin added a goal apiece for the Blazers (1-1, 1-0 MDCC). Goalkeeper Kylaya Martin stopped a penalty shot.
“We got off to a quick start with four goals in the first half, but our play was sloppy,” Blazers coach Tim Hott said. “The second half was much better with us being able to put 8-9 passes together per possession.”
Baseball: Broadfording 10, CVCS 3: The Blazers gave up all the runs in the first three innings in dropping their game against Broadfording, trailing 10-1 after three innings.
“We held them scoreless the rest of the game,” Blazers coach Ed McBeth said. “I told the players I was proud of them for continuing to play hard and not giving up.”
Gage Brookens was 2-for-4 with a triple for the Blazers (0-3, 0-2 MDCC). Jensen Henninger added a double.
