Fannett-Metal (5-8) came into Friday night’s contest against visiting Tussey Mountain determined to end its four-game losing streak. The Titans had won three of their last four contests. Senior night brought out a big crowd for the contest, as the gym was packed.
The Titans came out strong in the first quarter, knocking down four treys to lead 20-14 after one-quarter of play. The Tigers quickly answered in the second quarter when Jake Coffman drilled back-to-back three-pointers to tie the game at 20. The Titans would take the lead back on consecutive lay-ups to lead 24-20. After a timeout, the Tigers Broc Hostler scored on a jumper and Coffman hit another three to put the Tigers in front 25-24, a lead they would never relinquish. The Tigers scored 28 points in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 42-33 lead. Hostler had 17 points in the second quarter.
The Tigers came out in the second half and extended their lead to double digits. A full court press created problems for the Titans and a change in half court defense stymied the Titans as the Tigers extended their lead to 62-43 after three quarters. Hostler hit for 8 in the quarter while Evan Wingert and Landon Arnold combined for 12 points in the quarter. The Tigers slowed down the pace in the 4th quarter to close out the game with a 73-54 victory.
Broc Hostler had a big night for the Tigers with a career high 29 points, 9 assists and 3 steals. Evan Wingert posted solid numbers with 16 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Landon Arnold had 12 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. Jake Coffman had 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Parker Lantz chipped in 2 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Tucker Seibert had 2 points and 1 steal while Colton Daniel had 1 point. All six seniors scored in tonight’s contest. The Tigers had 27 assists and 15 steals. The Titans were led by Gavin Hall with 18 points.
