BOYS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 115, Reading 54: The Trojans won every event except one and captured a non-league win over the Black Knights on Thursday afternoon at home.
Double winners for Chambersburg (4-1) included Alex Kaczmark in the 200 freestyle (2:03.88) and 100 butterfly (1:02.85) and he led off the winning 400 free relay, Ethan White in the 200 IM (2:20.55) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.88), and Amir Tasker in the 50 free (24.35) and 400 free (4:36.37). White and Tasker also swam in the winning 200 medley relay.
Also taking wins for the Trojans were Cullen McGraw in the 100 free (59.58) and Cristian Pong in the 100 backstroke (1:01.81).
McGraw and Pong were also in the 200 medley relay, which finished in 1:53.29, and were also in the 400 free relay with Thomas McCullough that won in 4:01.41.
Chambersburg coach Chad White said, “It was a great meet against an opponent we haven’t faced in a in a dual meet before. The boys swam with excellent effort and mental toughness at a time of the season where it is tough to do so.
“Alex had two good wins and led off two relays in solid times. Amir looked sharp in the 50 and broke the pool record for he second time this season.”
GIRLS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 120, Reading 39: The Trojan girls moved their record to 4-1 with a dominating non-league victory at home over the Black Knights on Thursday afternoon.
“What a great win for the girls today,” coach Hali Cormany said. “Many girls swam events they don’t normally swim, and almost every girl contributed points today.”
Audrey Keller was the only double winner, taking first place in the 200 freestyle in 2:25.30 and the 100 butterfly in 1:13.45.
Also taking first places were Calla Hoffman (200 IM, 2:39.31), Lilly Evans (50 free, 31.46), Addie Zimmerman in the 400 free (6:00.91 and Kayla Wolfe in the 100 backstroke (1:21.0).
Chambersburg also scored wins in all three relays. The 200 medley was won in 2:20.81 by Evans, Ava Grove, Brooke Reichelderfer and Lauren Markle; the 200 free was taken in 2:03.09 by Evans, Markle, Grove and Hoffman; and the 400 free finished in 5:06.36 with Grove, Ella Boas, Ashton Lucas and Wolfe.
Cormany said, “Our 400 relay, Addie, Caitlyn (Rankin) and Zoe (Dereef) all had great races, and Sofia (Baccus-Rauser) swam the 200 IM for the first time and did a phenomenal job. I’m proud of how they swam after having a few days off because of the weather.”
