Chambersburg 102, Red Land 68; Chambersburg 114, Cedar Cliff 56: The Trojans came off the holiday break in good form, collecting non-league victories over the Patriots and Colts at the West Shore Natatorium on Thursday afternoon.
“Today was a great meet for all the girls,” Trojan coach Hali Cormany said. “We swam well after some tough holiday practices.”
Addie Zimmerman scored an interesting double, taking first place in diving with 177.50 points, and taking first in the 200 freestyle in 2:22.17.
Cormany said, “The 200 free is an unusual event for her, but she swam really well.”
Ava Grove won the 200 IM in 2:24.94 and the breaststroke in 1:15.11, Calla Hoffman took first in the 100 free (58.25) and Lilly Evans won the backstroke (1:11.37).
“Ava had a great day, with a personal best in the 200 IM and a season best in the breaststroke,” Cormany said. “Jade Uglow, Graciana Clark and Brooke Reichelderfer also had personal bests today.”
Chambersburg (3-1) also won all three relays. It was Evans, Grove, Hoffman and Lauren Markle in the 200 IM (2:01.96), Evans, Reichelderfer, Clark and Zimmerman in the 200 free and Markle, Grove, Reichelderfer and Evans in the 400 freestyle.
BOYS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 113, Red Land 59; Chambersburg 116, Cedar Cliff 47: The Trojans dominated the tri-meet, winning every event, and picked up non-league wins over the Patriots and Colts on Thursday afternoon at the West Shore Natatorium.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Alex Kaczmark, Amir Tasker, Ethan White and Cullen McGraw, with Tasker putting up a fast spit of 47.4) won the race in 3:18.13 to set a pool record.
“The guys swam really well today, despite the holiday break training they have been doing,” Chambersburg coach Chad White said.
For the Trojans (3-1), Cristian Pong took wins in the butterfly (50.39) and breaststroke (1:07.86), and Keegan Myers won both the diving (187) and 100 freestyle (56.92).
Other individual winners included Kaczmark (200 free, 1:51.23), White (200 IM, 2:08.25), McGraw (50 free, 23.14), Tasker (500 free, 4:51.06) and Colby Evans (backstroke, 1:04.15).
The other relay winners included McGraw, White, Pong and Tasker in the 200 medley (1:38.87), and Kaczmark, Myers, Xavier Covington and Pong in the 200 free (1:32.25).
Coach White said, “Cullen was impressive in the 50 back and 50 free, Alex had a great 50 leading off the 200 free relay, and Cristian was close to breaking the legendary pool record held by (former Hershey star) David Nolan) in the 100 fly.”
