McConnellsburg 49, Forbes Road 31 The Lady Spartans traveled to county rival Forbes Road to face the Lady Cardinals in a conference match on Thursday, December 19th. They skated away cleanly with an 18-point lead and their fourth straight win.
The Spartans (4-2 overall, 1-0 ICC South) scoring came from an eight-player combination with Journey Jefferson and 10 points, Maggie Mellott (8), and Lucy Brun and Brookelynn Gelvin tied with 7 points each.
After the first quarter, the Spartans had a nine-point lead. Then, the Spartans continued to distance themselves from the Cardinals and led at halftime 28-14. After three, the Spartans had a 24-point gap, leading 45-21. In the final quarter, the Spartans cooled their scoring tempo to comfortably seal the win.
