Greencastle-Antrim 76, James Buchanan 67: In a game that featured 70 free throws and five players fouling out, the Blue Devils held off the Rockets by 9 points in a non-league game Monday night at home.

Noah Parks

G-A (1-1) shot 43 foul shots and sank 25, while JB was 16-for-27. The Rockets had 3 players foul out, and Greencastle had two.

“Anytime you have two teams like this go at each other with all-out effort, you’ll probably have a lot of fouls,” Blue Devil coach Todd Stephens said.

In the fourth period, G-A hit on 13 of 22 free throws; the Rockets made 7 of 13. Greencastle maintained the lead during the fourth quarter, with JB getting to within 6 points several times.

For the Blue Devils, Noah Parks led the way with 22 points, and Landen Swain was right behind with 21, Alex Albright added 15 and Carter McCauley contributed 11.

Stephens said, “Noah had a fine all-out effort for us, running the offense and showing intense, tenacious defense that was contagious. Everybody had their moments, like Landon, but Noah stood out. We have younger pieces this year, but they’ve shown a real willingness to learn.”

James Buchanan (1-1) got a quality game from Drew Crouse, who scored 13 of his game-high 31 points in the final period before he fouled out. Jayden Rineer chipped in with 11 points.
