The Franklin and Fulton county area has three teams ready to begin their quest for a PIAA title on Tuesday evening.
McConnellsburg pulled off a double in soccer, winning District 5 championships in both boys and girls. Both of those teams will host games Tuesday evening.
The Spartan girls (19-2-1) face (7-3) Seton-LaSalle (15-3-2) at 5 p.m., while the boys (17-3-1) take on (3-3) Halifax (17-3) at 7:30.
The girls winner will play in the quarterfinals on Saturday against the winner of (9-1) Karns City (16-4) vs. (7-2) Winchester Thurston (15-6), and the boys winner will also play Saturday in a quarterfinal vs. the winner of (9-1) Brockway (12-6-1) vs. (7-2) Our Lady of Sacred Heart (15-3).
The area’s other playoff team is Shippensburg, still alive in the District 3 Class 5A football tournament. The Greyhounds (10-1), seeded No. 5, got past Warwick last week and will play on Friday at 7 p.m. in a quarterfinal at No. 4 Conestoga Valley (10-0).
The winner will play next week in a semifinal against the winner of No. 1 New Oxford (10-0) vs. No. 8 Exeter Township (10-1).
