CENTRAL DAUPHIN AT CHAMBERSBURG
Game data: Rams (2-7, 2-6 MPC) at Trojans (4-5, 3-5 MPC) … Friday, at Trojan Stadium, 7 p.m. … Mid Penn Commonwealth game … Live stream available on MidPennBroadcasting.com.
Last week: Chambersburg took down Cumberland Valley, 17-10 … Central Dauphin was defeated 27-7 by Harrisburg.
Playoff scenario: Chambersburg sits in the No. 10 spot in the District 3 Class 6A rankings, and the top 10 teams qualify for the playoffs … If the Trojans can beat CD, they will clinch a berth … CV is No. 9, Chambersburg is 10 and Cedar Cliff is No. 11, and the Eagles host the Colts on Friday … “The bottom line is, we have to win to get in for sure,” Trojan coach Mark Luther said.
The opponent: The Rams have struggled on offense, but are still very competitive on defense … QB Gavin Kirkpatrick has hit on 58 of 100 passes for 780 yards, 2 TDs and 6 Int. … Top runners are John Harris III (93-379, 2 TDs), Mark Lebo (59-221, 5) and Isaac Hodgson (54-213, 1) … Jahmari Robinson-Bell has caught 21 passes for 343 yards and 2 scores, and Andrew Kuntz has 13 catches for 274 and 1 TD.
Coach’s view: “This is not the CD team we’ve seen for the past few years,” Luther said. “They’re not as big and dominant up front as they usually are. So they haven’t been able to run the same plays as effectively as before. A lot of their scoring has come from opponent’s mistakes, so we have to win the turnover battle. I’m definitely not sitting here saying they are a bad team. Their defense has played well and they’ve played teams tough. We haven’t beaten them for a while and I’m sure they think they can come in here and beat us.”
Unsung: Fabian Moreno, a senior, had a good game against Cumberland Valley at defensive tackle last week … Luther said, “He did a nice job using his hands and getting off blocks. He’s starting to get it now and he made a difference.”
Statistics: The Trojans have lost only 2 fumbles all year … Passing — Ceagan Truett 86-155 (55%), 988 yards, 5 TDs, 10 Int. … Rushing — Antonio Harrison 100-453, 7 TDs; Imani Watson 62-308, 3 TDs … Receiving — Trever Luther 40-459; Evan Brown 14-271, 2 TDs; Jason Chambers 9-122, 1 TD … Kicking — T.Luther 4-5 FGs; 19-19 PATs … Tackles — Stanley Lozius 113 tackles, 4 sacks, 5 tackles for loss; Dylan Panfili 92 tackles, 3 TFL … Interceptions — Chambers 3 … Fumbles recovered — Kevin Demory 3.
GREENCASTLE-ANTRIM AT WEST PERRY
Game data: Blue Devils (2-7, 1-6 MPC) at Mustangs (4-5, 2-5 MPC) … Friday, 7 p.m. in Elliottsburg … Mid Penn Colonial game … Live stream available on MidPennBroadcasting.com.
Last week: Greencastle fell 15-13 to Boiling Springs … The Mustangs lost a wild one to Milton Hershey, 58-37.
The opponent: West Perry won its first 4 games, but has now lost 5 consecutive games, to Middletown, East Pennsboro, Big Spring, Trinity and Milton Hershey … Running back Brad Hockenberry, who has missed several games with an injury, still has 117 carries for 1,275 yards (10.9 per carry) and 15 touchdowns … In the games he’s played in, he has gone past the 200-yard mark at least twice.
Coach’s view: G-A coach Devin McCauley said, “That Hockenberry kid is a really, really good running back, and their team goes as he goes. He has missed the last two games and parts of others, but basically, when he plays, they have won. With our luck this year, he’s probably going to play this week. They do a lot of different things with their read option, but if he’s not in there, they’re just not as effective.”
Unsung: McCauley said, “Jeremiah Fogle had his best game of the season last week at defensive tackle. He led the team with 12 tackles.”
Statistics: Passing — Sean Marshall 72-176 (53%), 1,028 yards, 11 TDs, 10 Int. … Rushing — Blake Reuter 93-587, 2 TDs; Lars Galinanes 66-262, 1 TD; Noah Shifflett 46-232, 4 TDs … Receiving — Carter McCauley 63-932, 12 TDs … Reuter 10-125, 1 TD … Tackles — Ben Belleau 56; McCauley 55; Shifflett 47 … Tackles for loss — McCauley 8; JD Flynn 6 … Sacks — McCauley 3 … Interceptions — Shifflett 2
