After Chambersburg won the first two games handily, 25-20 and 25-16, CD rolled to an early lead in the third set. But the Trojans rallied for a 25-23 win, bumping their record to 14-3 (8-3 MPC) and their 13th win the last 14 contests.

“We showed a lot of heart and character coming back to take the match in the third set,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said.

Ava Zeigler was the team leader in service points (11) and assists (20) for the Trojans. Other leaders were Riley Evans (blocks, 3), Marah Lehman (kills, 11) and Karley Skultety (digs, 19).

Also, Alayna Jones filled the stat sheet with 10 points, 6 kills and 12 digs, Lehman had 10 points, Evans had 7 kills, Kasey Moser made 2 blocks and Evans had 6 kills.

BOYS SOCCER
Chambersburg 2, Carlisle 0: The Trojans needed a win to remain in contention for the District 3 playoffs, and they got it in a shutout win over the Thundering Herd on Tuesday night at Ken Millen Stadium.

“I thought the boys played well and it was one of the more convincing wins of the season,” Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. “We’ve found a rhythm the last four games, going 2-1-1 and giving ourselves a chance to win every game.”

Brandon Arana tallied both goals for the Trojans (5-8-2, 3-5-2 MPC), while Colton Hunsecker provided the assist on both.

Grove said, “Brandon continues to step up and score goals as a sophomore. His confidence in front of the goal has definitely helped our team find something. I thought Colton and Noah Mulewich both played a great game. And we had another plyer get hurt last week, and Bramere Pittman (sophomore) played in his absence and did an incredible job.”

Chambersburg 2, Carlisle 1: Bree Paetow scored a pair of goals — including the game-winner with 10 minutes left — to lift the Trojans over the Thundering Herd on Tuesday night at Trojan Stadium in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game.

“We were up for a fight tonight and the girls proved how much they wanted to win,” Chambersburg coach Paul Unruh said.

The Trojans (6-7-2, 5-5-1 MPC) got on the board 26 minutes into the game when Marley Onomastico played a through pass to Paetow, who found the back of the net with her shot. That lead held until Carlisle tied it midway through the second half.

“With 10 minutes left, Maddie Mills took a corner kick, which deflected back to her,” Unruh said. “She sent it back into the box and Bree was there to run through the ball and score the winner.”
