Greencastle-Antrim 1, Forbes Road 0: A second half goal by Jensen Keefer proved to be just enough for the Blue Devils to edge the Cardinals in a non-league contest on Thursday afternoon at Kaley Field.
Keefer took a pass from Natalie Media to set her up for the goal.
“We had control of the game, especially during the second half, and the team had many beautiful short passes,” G-A coach Keara Allshouse said. “Acacia Long had a fantastic defensive save in the first half half to keep us in the game. She played a really good game.”
Rebecca Jones made 8 saves in goal for Greencastle (4-10), putting her over 100 saves for the season.
GIRLS SOCCER
Greencastle-Antrim 1, Waynesboro 0: The 14 seniors on the Blue Devil team were recognized and they came through with a win over the rival Maidens in a Mid Penn Colonial game Thursday night at Kaley Field.
“It’s always a battle against Waynesboro, and our girls fought hard until the last minute,” G-A coach Jamie Coy said.
For Greencastle (9-3-1, 8-1-1 MPC), Callie Izer struck the game-winning goal off an assist from Braelyn Cordell.
Blue Devil goalkeeper Lexi Nelson made 9 saves. Waynesboro is 9-5.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Waynesboro 3, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Maidens turned the tables on the Blue Devils in a Mid Penn Colonial match on Thursday night in Waynesboro, shutting them out after falling 3-0 to them earlier in the season.
‘Boro won games of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-23. G-A is now 13-2 (9-1 MPC), while Waynesboro is 12-3 (10-2 MPC) and the Blue Devils still lead the division by one game over the Maidens and Big Spring.
For Greencastle, Abby Eagler led in kills with 16 and digs with 23, and also had 6 service points and 3 aces. Kylie Kerns piled up a stat line of 5 kills, 10 points, 3 aces and 17 assists.
Alaina Garling contributed 12 digs and 13 assists, Wren Roberts had 5 kills and Emma Pool made 2 blocks.
For Waynesboro, Breanna McIlquham had 22 assists, 9 kills and 2 blocks; Jaeda Dockman had 9 kills and blocked 6 balls and Olivia Fortmann had 3 kills, 3 aces and 12 digs. Also, Klara Helman came up with 11 assists, Chloe Shacreaw had 5 kills, Marissa Hedin had 4 kills, Lexi Swiney had 6 kills and a pair of blocks, Kayelyn Baker had 9 digs and Savannah Swiney 4 digs.

Waynesboro 3, Greencastle-Antrim 1: The Indians earned a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Blue Devils on Thursday night at Buchanan Automotive Stadium.
Waynesboro improves to 5-7, while G-A is now 4-9 (4-7 MPC).
The Indians got on he board quickly, then Greencastle tied it 1-1 in the third minute when Nathan Sullivan scored off a Cooper Noblit helper.
“The cards weren’t in our favor tonight,” Blue Devil coach Tim Carey said. We had tied it up and were in complete control. Then a guy who’s a vital piece of our team injured his foot and we chased the game after that. One day, the asteroids will stop falling on us and we will be on the winning side.””
