HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers played first-place Grace Academy tough in dropping a 3-0 decision to the Knights Tuesday in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball match.
The Blazers (8-6, 3-4 MDCC) lost the first game 25-7. Grace won the second game 25-14, but the Blazers made it difficult in the third set before falling 25-18. They rallied to tie the third set at 17-17, forcing Grace, which hasn’t lost a set in a league match all year, to call a timeout.
Blazer stat leaders: Reagan Witmer, 1 kill, 3 blocks and 1 serve receives; Sydney Wiegand, 1 ace, 1 kill and 1 dig; Addison Teal, 6 digs and 11 serve receives; Chloe Smith, 4 digs and 20 serve receives; Allison Rowe, 2 digs and 19 serve receives; Makenna Morris, 2 kills and 1 dig; Gloria Martin, 1 kill, 2 digs, 3 blocks and 14 serve receives; and Kaitlyn Garvin, 1 ace, 1 dig, 48 assists, 6 kill assists and 2 serve receives.
On Monday, the Blazers defeated Carlisle Christian 3-0 in a non-league match, securing victories of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-13.
