The Shippensburg Greyhounds moved to 4-0 with a 47-13 win over visiting Palmyra.
Shippensburg once again used its strong running game to gain 384 yards, and the defense forced three turnovers to handle the Cougars.
Ja’nye Statum led the Hound’s rushing attack with 141 yards on 21 carries (his fourth consecutive 100-yard game) and added three touchdowns. Hines rushed for 102 and had a TD run, reception, and interception return. Mark Carothers Jr. scampered for 94 on the ground for Shippensburg.
With the score 26-13 at the half in favor of the Hounds, the defense stepped it up and shut out the visitors in the second half, and the offense put it on ice.
Nick Scott had an interception with the Cougars driving and the score at 18-7. Scott appeared to return it for 89-yard touchdown, but a penalty brought it back to the mid-field stripe. Landon Feather had a fumble recovery for the Hounds.
Elijah Bailey led the Hounds defense with 10 tackles.
Shippensburg did have some negatives in the game. It lost a fumble and gave up a 90-yard kickoff return TD. The Hounds were also hit with 11 penalties for 110 yards. Shippensburg also missed PAT kicks and was stuffed on one two-point conversion attempt.
Up next for the Hounds, a trip to Mifflin County.
