The Shippensburg Greyhounds (3-0 overall, 2-0 Keystone) picked up a hard-fought Keystone win over the Waynesboro Indians (2-1, 1-1) 28-21. The Greyhounds behind Ja’nye Statums’ career high 165 yards rushing set up the four rushing touchdowns.

In quarter two the Indians, after stopping Shippensburg on fourth down, went 60 yards in six plays for a go ahead score. The big play in the drive was a Rayshawn Frazer-Hewitt’s 33 yard pass to Keyan Mobley that looked from the press box to be out-of-bounds, but ruled a catch. Frazer-Hewitt’s five yard scramble put the home team up 14-7.
After the Boro defense forced a Hounds punt momentum shifted. Waynesboro forced a fourth and two from their own 47, lined up to punt and tried a fake, but the Hounds were ready and took over after a seven yard loss.
Shippensburg closed the score to 14-13 right before the half. Brady Maciejewski’s 5 yard run capped the nine play 40 yard drive. Statum bolted for 20 yards to jump start the drive, but Maciejewski’s 10 yard scamper on third and ten kept the drive alive. The pat was missed however.
The Shippensburg defense came out and forced and Indians three and out. The Hounds offense responded with a 11 play 63 yard drive. Carothers jr. three yard run capped the drive and Maciejewski’s run for two put the Hounds up 21-14.
Waynesboro answered with a 13 play 80 yard drive. Nathan Nolan’s four yard run capped the drive early in the fourth for a 21-21 game. Shippensburg’s run game again had an answer nine play 65 yard drive. Statum jump started the drive with a 13 yard run. Maciejewski ended it with a one yard sneak for the score with seven minutes left in the contest.
The Hounds defense after giving up an initial first down to the Indians, stopped them on fourth and one to get the ball back with 4:22 left in the game. Waynesboro never saw the ball again as the Hounds ran out the clock picking up a pair of first downs and then taking a couple of kneel downs.
Neither team had a turnover in the contest. Waynesboro coming in was a plus five and the Hounds a plus six.
Up next for the Hounds, a home game with Palmyra. The Indians travel to Red Land.
