Greencastle-Antrim 3, Shippensburg 0: Braelyn Cordell is off to a hot start scoring goals for the Blue Devils, including two in a Mid Penn Colonial victory over the Greyhounds at Kaley Field on Monday night (the game was moved from Tuesday).
Cordell popped in the game’s first goal on an assist from Cat Marchiano, then scored unassisted. Brooke Guthrie scored the third goal before the first half ended, with an assist going to Hailey Baker.
Greencastle (2-1, 1-0 MPC) played in the Bubbler Tournament on Saturday, defeating Camp Hill 2-1 in the opening round, then falling 3-0 to Central York in the championship game.
Cordell scored both goals against Camp Hill, with Guthrie getting an assists and goalkeeper Lexi Nelson making 7 saves. Nelson was called upon to make 16 saves in the final.
FIELD HOCKEY
West Perry 8, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Blue Devils ran into a tough foe in their season opener Monday night, falling to the Mustangs in a Mid Penn Colonial matchup in Elliottsburg.
G-A coach Keara Allshouse said, “The team hustled and worked hard the entire game. We held them to just two goals in the second half.
“I am excited to see what this team can do moving forward.”
Blue Devil goalie Rebecca Jones made 10 stops in the contest.
