Chambersburg roundup: Emily Rensch fires career round

Rensch earns medalist honors: Chambersburg’s Emily Rensch opened the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division golf season on her home course and she made the most of it.

Rensch fired a 1-over par 73 to outdistance her competitors and grab medalist honors at Penn National’s Iron Forge on Wednesday afternoon.

“Emily did a great job today,” Trojan coach Mark Yost said. “That was her best high school performance so far.”

Rensch shot a 1-under 35 on the front side, scoring 8 pars and a birdie on No. 4, the No. 1 handicap hole. On the back, she followed up with a 38, birdieing No. 12, and taking bogeys on Nos. 13, 14 and 17.

Also for Chambersburg, Abby Rensch shot a 105 for 14th place and Britney Miller was 16th with a 111. Eva Moawad of Central Dauphin was the runner-up with a 75.

CD (256) and Cumberland Valley (264) finished ahead of the Trojans (289) in the team scoring.

Chambersburg takes 5th: The Trojans opened the Mid Penn Commonwealth season with a home match at Penn National’s Iron Forge and ended up placing fifth.

State College posted a score of 304 to take first place, while the Trojans totaled 370 and earned a win over Lower Dauphin.

Keegan Redmond of Hershey was the medalist, shooting a 2-under par 70. The top Trojans were Carter Zeger (tie for 26th, 88), Colton Cornwell (tie for 31st, 91), Kason Shaffer (33rd, 95) and Brady Sites (34th, 96).
