Greencastle defeats Pen Mar 21-0

The hits just kept on coming at Pen Mar on Monday. Greencastle pounded out 15 hits and defeated Pen Mar 21-0. Greencastle scored eight runs in the first and 13 in the second inning en route to a 21-0 win in the opening round of the District 14 Double Elimination Tournament.

Reed Sholes and Greer Barkdoll each drove in four runs on two hits. Chase Cordell and Mayze Gordon drove in three each.

Eleven Greencastle hitters joined the hit parade. Gordon, Reed, Noah Ambrose, and Barkdoll had two hits each.

11 of the 15 hits were singles mixed in with four doubles from Cordell, Barkdoll, Ambrose, and Ryan Emlet.

Bryce King pitched the first two innings for Greencastle, allowing two hits and striking out two.

Anthanee Bowers and Levi Ringenary each collected one hit for Pen Mar.

For the fourth consecutive game, Greencastle did not commit an error.

Greencastle has outscored opponents 59-2 in four games, collected 55 hits in those four contests, and scored in 14 of 18 innings.

In the other tournament game, Newville held on to defeat Carlisle 12-11. It will play Greencastle on Wednesday, July 3, at 7:00 p.m. at Clary Field in Greencastle. Mid Penn Broadcasting will bring you the live play-by-play beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Carlisle will play Pen Mar in an elimination game at 7:00 p.m. at Pen Mar.
