Southern Fulton Falls To Conemaugh Township in D5 Championship

Southern Fulton Indians (19-5) fell to Conemaugh Township 5-4 on Thursday at Everett Area Elementary Schools in the Championship game of District 5.

Conemaugh Township opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to 4 straight hits.  Larry Weaver singled, scoring one run.  Zach Petree then followed with an RBI single.

Southern Fulton took the lead at 3-2 in the top of the third after Hunter Ward doubled, scoring one run, and Jett Burger singled, scoring two runs.

Conemaugh Township Indians took the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fourth when Weaver doubled, scoring one run, and Zack Petree singled, scoring two runs.

Colin Dinyar earned the win for Conemaugh Township.  He allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking three. Owen Oakman took the loss for Southern Fulton.  The righty went three innings, giving up two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking none. Paul Hendershot began the game for Southern Fulton . The starting pitcher gave up five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four and walking two. Weaver began the game for Conemaugh Township. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and three runs over four innings, striking out none and walking one.

Burger provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Southern Fulton Varsity Indians with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Burger and Mark Fitz were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Southern Fulton.

Conemaugh Township Indians accumulated nine hits in the game. Weaver and Petree were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Conemaugh Township. DJ Bambino collected two hits for Conemaugh Township in four at bats.

Despite the loss, SF advances into the State Tournament.  They will play Monday at a place and time TBA.
