South Western 4, Greencastle-Antrim 0: The Blue Devils managed only 5 hits and could not push in a run against the Mustangs on Thursday afternoon at home and were shut out in a non-league game Thursday afternoon.
South Western (12-0) — ranked No. 1 in Class 5A of District 3 — got a fine pitching performance from Jayda Koontz, who struck out 6 and walked just one.
Makayla Jerin was 2-for-3 with a double for Greencastle (6-2), and Kiersten Swain, Annika Gaus and Alexis Jones had the other base hits.
Kaidyn Zimmerman had a good pitching performance for the Blue Devils. She allowed 6 hits and walked 2, but struck out 11 batters, and only 2 of the 4 runs off her were earned.
