Fannett-Metal(1-1) bounced back from Friday’s loss against Northern Bedford with a 19-0 four inning win at Forbes Road.
The Tigers top of the line up set the tone early in the game as Drew Goshorn doubled to lead off the game, Jake Coffman singled to score Goshorn and Arnold singled to score Coffman. The Tigers continued to add base runners off of Cardinals starter Sawyer Holliabugh. Appleby walked and Adam Hammond’s sac fly scored Arnold from third. Logan Hall’s RBI single scored Appleby. Ayden Ryder was hit by pitch. Daxten Detweiler’s RBI single scored Hall. A pair of walks pushed across two more runs before Hollibaugh was lifted for Jacoby Knepper. Knepper shut the Tigers rally down with two quick outs but the damage was already done as the Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one inning of play. The Tigers continued to add runs in the next three innings to enforce the mercy rule.
The seven first inning runs was more than enough run support for Tiger starter Drew Goshorn. Goshorn threw four innings of perfect baseball as the Tigers rolled to a 19-0 victory. Goshorn threw 49 pitches in the contest. He gave up no hits, no walks and had 9 strikeouts.
Offensively, the Tigers collected 13 hits on the day. Adam Hammond had three hits, while Goshorn and Arnold each added a pair of hits. Goshorn scored four runs while Hammond and Coffman both scored three runs each.
The Tigers will travel to Southern Fulton on Wednesday for another ICC south league contest.
