Ethan Mellott’s Big Day Propels the Southern Fulton Indians

Senior, Ethan Mellott drove in six runs on three hits to lead Southern Fulton Indians (2-0) past Windber 17-5 on Friday. Mellott tripled in the fifth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two.

The Indians won thanks in part to nine runs in the fifth inning. Mellott tripled, scoring three runs, Kaiden Schriever singled, scoring one run, Ethan Powell singled, scoring two runs, Paul Hendershot singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

Southern Fulton  added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Hendershot hit a sacrifice fly, and Windber committed an error, each scoring one run. The Indians then added one run in the third. Joel Fitz hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 6-0.

Owen Oakman earned the win for Southern Fulton Varsity Indians. He  allowed three hits and two runs over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Dawson Himes took the loss for Windber. They went two innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Powell and Jett Burger each appeared in relief for Southern Fulton Varsity Indians.

Southern Fulton  piled up 13 hits in the game. Powell and Mellott each collected three hits for the victors.

Hendershot and Austin Mann each collected multiple hits for SF.

The Indians welcome Everett on Monday for a big ICC South matchup.
