Southern Fulton took on Fannett Metal at UPJ, in the Consolation Round of the PIAA District 5 playoffs Friday night. With a berth to the PIAA State Tournament on the line, the Indians defeated the Tigers 55 to 33.
Southern Fulton (15-10), went to the half down 19 to 18, but outscored Fannett Metal 17 to 4 in the third period to take command of the game.
SF Coach Jeremy Hann commented “We turned the ball over a little too much in the first half and just seemed to be playing flat. We discussed that at halftime, made a couple defensive adjustments, and of course with Hunter shooting it so well, it all seemed to click”.
Southern Fulton was led by Hunter Ward with 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Sam Stotler had 11 points, 3 assists, and 5 steals. Ethan Mellott had 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Jett Burger had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Trentin Cain had 2 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. Gaven Mellott added 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Southern Fulton will now play the District 9 runner up on Friday March 8th.
