BOYS BASKETBALL
Big Spring 62, Greencastle-Antrim 59, 2 OT: The Bulldogs scored the final 8 points of the second overtime to erase a 5-point Blue Devil lead and took home a back-and-forth Mid Penn Colonial victory Wednesday night in Greencastle.

Logan Alvey

A layup by Carter McCauley on a pass from Jordan Hunt, and a pair of free throws by Logan Alvey gave G-A a 59-54 lead with 1:59 left. But the Blue Devils (8-2, 4-1 MPC), who had a 7-game winning streak snapped, did not make a shot or get to the foul line from that point on.

Big Spring took the lead on a putback by Jake Crouse at 0:48 and went ahead by 3, 62-59, on two foul shots by Tavon Hodge with 12 seconds left.

In the first overtime, Alvey hit a floater in the lane to tie the game 52-52 and G-A survived a late missed layup by Knouse.

Greencastle also had a golden chance to win it in regulation, taking a 45-41 lead on a basket by Eli Sterling with about a minute left. But they gave up an offensive rebound on a missed free throw to Aidan Salle, who made two foul shots to bring his team back to within 45-44.

McCauley made 1 of 2 free throws, but Hodge rattled in a critical 3-pointer with 5 seconds left to give his team a 47-46 lead. The Blue Devils hurried the ball downcourt, and Hunt was fouled with no time left on the clock. He missed his first foul shot, then made the second to send the game to OT.

Sterling and Alvey carried the offense for the Blue Devils, tallying 19 points each; it was a career-high total for Alvey, who hit five 3-pointers.

Salle racked up 23 for Big Spring, which made 20 of 29 free throws, including 15 of 19 from the start of the fourth quarter on.
