Columbia 55, Greencastle-Antrim 40: Despite a loss to the Crimson Tide to finish fourth in the York Suburban Holiday Tournament on Friday evening, there was a bright spot for the Blue Devils.
With 47 seconds left in the first half, G-A senior Haley Noblit sank a free throw to hit the 1,000-point mark for her career. She is the seventh Blue Devil girls player to reach the milestone.
Columbia (6-1) led 12-10 after a competitive first quarter. But the Tide went on a 17-0 run over the first 5 minutes of the second period with a tough half-court trapping 1-2-2 defense to take a commanding lead, and the Blue Devils (6-3) could never get back into the game.
Noblit ended up with 12 points — her lowest total of the season) — and added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Eva Martin scored 8 points and had 3 boards, and Ellie Bigler scored a career-high 9 points and had 4 rebounds.
