GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Greencastle-Antrim 3, Northern York 0: The Blue Devils kept it rolling on Thursday evening at home by sweeping the Polar Bears in a Mid Penn Colonial match, winning games of 25-18, 25-7 and 25-11.
Greencastle coach Corry Eagler said, “I was proud of the girls for playing consistently throughout the three sets. Our serving was strong with minimal errors and we were able to be in system progressively more as the match went on.”
The Blue Devils (13-1, 11-1 MPC), who have 12 straight wins, got a big match from Alaina Garling, who totaled 5 kills, 3 aces, 8 service points and 14 assists.
Brianna Woodring came up with 5 aces, 10 points and 9 digs, Lily Kauffman notched 7 kills and 3 aces, Kylie Kerns had 10 points and 13 assists and Abby Eagler put up 9 points and 5 digs.
FIELD HOCKEY
Greencastle-Antrim 1, Central Dauphin East 0: The Blue Devils scored the game’s only goal in the third quarter and hung on to beat the Panthers in a Mid Penn Colonial game Thursday afternoon.
Alishya Thurmond scored her fifth goal of the season for Greencastle (5-12, 4-8 MPC), and Ainsley Swindell collected her fifth assist.
G-A coach Lorraine Hohl said, “Collectively, our hunger and intensity to pick up 50/50 balls and the use of our strong stick side allowed us to maintain an offensive game. Ultimately, out passing led to a fiery goal, which started in the backfield with Jaylynn Schmuck, who utilized her wing player, back into the center and a nice forward pass.”
