Shippensburg defeats Greencastle 3-0 and forces deciding game Tuesday

Greencastle 11-12 and Shippensburg played for the third time and this time Shippensburg came out on top, defeating Greencastle 3-0 to force a deciding game for the District 14 Championship at Newville Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.

Blake Truitt broke up a scoreless tie with a two run homer in the bottom of the fifth over the right field fence to give Shippensburg a 2-0 lead. One out later Coleman Chamberlin homered over the center field fence to put Shippensburg up 3-0.

Both Levi Macjewski of Shippensburg and Jordan Beaver of Greencastle were brilliant. Through four innings Shippensburg had one base runner, a bad hop single in the first inning, Beaver struck out just one batter and walked two.

Levi Macjewski allowed Greencastle just two infield hits, while striking out eleven and walking one batter.

Neither team committed an error. The game was played in an hour and ten minutes.

The Shippensburg win forces a deciding game to be played on Tuesday. The winner will capture the District 14 Championship and play in the Section 7 Tournament next week. The loser will be eliminated from tournament play. The game will be broadcast on Mid Penn Broadcasting.

The Greencastle 9-10 team captured the District 14 Championship with a 13-0 win over Shippensburg in four innings and will move on to the Section 7 tournament.
