Fannett-Metal Beats Claysburg-Kimmel

The Tigers(5-3) hosted the Bulldogs on Monday evening and held on for a 12-10 ICC league victory. 

After two scoreless innings, Claysburg took a 4-0 lead in the top of the 3rd.  The Tigers quickly answered in the bottom of the 3rd to cut the deficit to 4-3.   

Jake Coffman and Adam Hammond had RBI singles in the inning, and Drew Goshorn scored on a passed ball.  

The Tigers added five more runs in the 4th inning to take an 8-6 lead.  Landon Arnold’s two run single scored Coffman and Goshorn.  Hammond and Seibert both drew RBI walks in the big inning.  

In the 6th inning, the Tigers struck again for three more runs which proved to be important insurance runs.  Arnold’s two run triple scored Noah Naugle and Jake Coffman.   Wade Appleby’s RBI groundout scored Arnold. 

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the 7th but the Tigers held on for a 12-10 victory.  

The Tigers started sophomore Adam Hammond.  He pitched 3.2 innings allowing 7 runs (2 earned).  Appleby pitched 1/3 inning.  Logan Hall pitched scoreless 5th and 6th innings before running into trouble in the 7th.  Landon Arnold recorded the final two outs of the game.  

Offensively, the Tigers had 8 hits on the day.  Arnold had three hits and 4RBIs.  Goshorn had a double and scored a pair of runs.   Hammond and Naugle each recorded singles.  Jake Coffman had a pair of hits and scored three runs.  

Fannett-Metal visits ICC foe Southern Huntingdon on Thursday at 4:30.
