McConnellsburg 2 Fannett Metal 1

Loysburg, Pa. – The McConnellsburg Boys’ Soccer team (20-0) edged Fannett Metal (13-7) 2 to 1 at Northern Bedford’s Panther Stadium to advance to the District V Class A Championship. Brady Daniels put the Spartans on the scoreboard with a penalty kick in the first half. Daniels would score his second goal of the game on another penalty kick in the second half. The Tigers would draw to within a goal when Matt Peppernick found the back of the net. Fannett Metal Coach Tom Otis commented, “We played extremely well tonight and did not give McConnellsburg a great deal of chances. Overall, we were the more aggressive team and won the majority of the 50/50 challenges in the middle of the field which was something we lacked in the regular season versus them.  I was very proud of our team today even though we did not advance.” McConnellsburg will play Conemaugh Township (a 4-2 winner over Rockwood) on Thursday October 31, at 5:30 at Windber Stadium for the District V Championship. The winner will advance to the PIAA State Tournament with the first round set to start on Tuesday, November 5, against the third place team from District III.
