Adyson Finkle

GIRLS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 7, Palmyra 6: After absorbing a foul near the Palmyra goal in overtime, the Trojans’ Adyson Finkle scored on the resulting shot, lifting her team to a Mid Penn victory on Tuesday at Trojan Stadium.

“We won the draw and held possession (in overtime),” Chambersburg coach Keara Allshouse said. “The girls played smartly and made good, hard passes around the fan until Finkle was fouled and had a beautiful bounce shot to win the game.”

Ashlyn Bothe led the Trojans (2-11), who have two wins in OT this year, with four goals and Ashlyn Barton tallied the other two. A goal by Bothe gave Chambersburg a 6-5 lead until the Cougars (3-12) tied it with three minutes left.

Allshouse said, “We called a timeout with over six minutes left in the first half down 3-1 and the girls really turned up the intensity. By halftime, we only trailed 4-3.

“In the second half our defense was a united front and we shut down many of their attacks. Our team worked well as a unit and truly showed off our passing skills. This game showed the growth our team has made this year.”
