Max McDowell ripped a two run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils to a dramatic come from behind 5-4 win over the Waynesboro Indians Thursday at Greencastle. With one out in the seventh inning Ethan Miller tripled and then a walk set the stage for McDowell’s big hit.
Greencastle carried a 3-0 lead into the top of the sixth on a strong performance from Blake Forney who had allowed just one hit and had seven strikeouts through five innings. After a leadoff walk, Forney reached the pitch limit, The Indians then rallied for four runs highlighted by a two run single by Maddox Brooks and a sacrifice fly from Derek Buhrman to take a 4-3 lead.
It remained that way until the Greencastle rally in the seventh.
The Blue Devils improve to 1-1. Waynesboro is 0-1.
In softball the Lady Blue Devils defeated the Waynesboro Maidens 6-2. No further details were available at press time.
