The Eagles were led by 6’6” junior Ben Karbe who scored 18 points, all on three point shots.
Karbe got the Eagles going in the first quarter when he scored three of his buckets to stake Cocalico to a 22-17 lead. Shippensburg, who was led by Collin Taylor’s 24 points, came back in the second to trail by one at the half, 36-35.
Shippensburg was able to retake the lead when Jacob Frey hit a three pointer at the end of the third to send the Greyhounds into the fourth with a 51-47 lead.
But Karbe, who was quiet in the second and third quarters, hit back to back three’s following a three by Peyton Stetter to push the Eagles ahead, 58-54. The Greyhounds got to within four again at 65-61, but Cocalico iced the game at the foul line. Jayden Statum’s three with five seconds left provided the final margin of victory for the Eagles.
Joining Taylor in double figures for Shippensburg was Jayden Statum with 22. The Greyhounds finish the season with a 15-9 record. Cocalico faces the winner of the Dover/New Oxford game on Monday night in the consolation semi-finals.
