Shawn Shreffler earned his 300th coaching victory for Chambersburg on Friday.
ALTOONA — Chambersburg jumped out to a 10-1 lead and never trailed against Altoona in a Mid Penn Commonwealth boys basketball game Friday night.
In addition to being a nice 50-34 road win, it was the 300th victory in the 20-year Trojan coaching career of Shawn Shreffler.
“It just means I’ve had the privilege to coach some really great kids who have worked extremely hard to develop a culture of success for the Trojan hoops program,” Shreffler said.
“Plus, I’ve been surrounded by many excellent coaches who develop quality young men, in addition to very good basketball players.”
Once Chambersburg (8-3, 4-2 MPC) jumped ahead, the closest the Mountain Lions (3-7, 1-6 MPC) got was three points near the end of the first period.
Altoona cut an 18-point Trojan lead to 11 midway through the fourth, but Seth Brouse made a basket and later knocked down a pair of technical fouls to restore the margin.
Shreffler said, “We had some really good moments against another tough league opponent. In my opinion, holding their best interior player to zero field goals was a major accomplishment, as well as a key to our success.
“We also got some balanced scoring as we continue to develop our depth.”
For the Trojans, Ty Holsopple scored 9 points, Brouse and Tyler Collier had 8 each and Terell Williams added 7.
