McAlisterville, Pa. – The Forbes Road Cardinal Field Hockey Team (11-1) kicked off their busy week with another shut out win as they traveled to take on the Tigers of East Juniata Monday afternoon.  Senior forward Mara Broadwater scored four of the five Cardinal goals for the day.  A determined East Juniata squad held off the Cardinal attack for the first 21 minutes of the game.  Broadwater netted her first goal after a scramble in front of the cage on a quick pass sent to her from Quincy McMath.  Her second goal was assisted by Harlie Strait in a similar manner during circle play.  At the halfway point the Cardinals led 2-0.

The Cardinals launched their attack more quickly in the second half with Broadwater’s final two scores coming in quick succession.  One was the result of a one on one situation with EJ’s goalie and the other on another assist from McMath.  The last goal of the day came just one minute before the ending whistle.  Center halfback Brianna Waters, on a free hit play, found Sierra Everhart on the goalie’s blindside.  Everhart pushed the ball over the line to seal the deal for the Cardinals.
