HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers stayed perfect in the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference by coming up with a hard-earned 3-2 victory over Grace Academy Friday in girls volleyball.
The Blazers (15-2, 11-0 MDCC) were down 2-0 after dropping games of 25-16 and 25-23. However, they battled back for a 25-20 third-game win before going overtime to take a 26-24 victory in game four. In the deciding game, they outlasted the Knights 15-12.
For the Blazers, Mackenzie Householder had 4 kills, 12 digs and 38 assists; Tahra Kennedy 3 kills, 2 digs and 2 aces; Hunter Timmons 6 kills, 8 digs, 3 aces and 5 blocks; Taylor Heck 7 assists; Emilee Beam 20 kills, 7 digs and 6 aces; Isabel Beard 4 aces; Kerri Potteiger 13 digs and 5 kills; Ryleigh Timmons 18 digs; and Kaitlin Provard 5 kills and 2 blocks.
In a non-league match on Saturday, the Blazers lost 3-0 to St. James Academy.
St. James took game victories of 27-25, 25-17 and 25-22.
Stat leaders for the Blazers were Householder with 5 digs and 19 assists, Kennedy with4 kills, Hunter Timmons with 5 kills and 4 blocks, Beam with 7 kills and 9 digs, Beard with 4 digs, Potteiger with 6 kills and 2 assists, Ryleigh Timmons with 11 digs, and Niki Schussler with 2 aces.
St. James won the JV match, 2-0.
