The Shippensburg Stars team in the West Shore Twilight League got off to a solid start behind complete games from Ricky Ott and Teagan Staver to take shut out victories over the expansion Carlisle Chargers. Ott had 14 strike outs and allowed two hits in a  1-0 win and Staver had 9 strike outs in a 3-0 victory.

The Stars haven’t been able to win another game since, dropping five consecutive games to fall to 2-5 overall.

They dropped a 9-6 decision to Carlisle, the Chargers first victory of the long season where they play all games on the road.

Hagerstown shut out the Stars 14-0 before Dillsburg dropped the Stars 4-1.

The other new team , the Cumberland Valley Eagles pulled off a double-header sweep over the weekend as Joey Cuomo threw a 2-hit shut out in a 2-0 victory and then the Eagles completed the sweep with a 6-2 victory.

Shippensburg hosted Hagerstown Tuesday and hosts Mechanicsburg on Thursday at Memorial Park. They also will host Enola on Saturday in a double-header at Memorial Park.
