West Greene 10 McConnellsburg 0 (6 Innings)

Somerset, Pa. McConnellsburg (12-12) knew going in that beating the District VII Champion West Greene Pioneers would be no easy task. The 2016 PIAA Class A Runner-up and 2017 defending state champions had been in this situation before. The Pioneers used this experience to overpower the Lady Spartans 10 to 0 in a six inning contest. West Greene outhit McConnellsburg ten to five.

Lady Spartan Coach Dana Winters said, “West Greene is the best team we’ve played all year. They just chipped away scoring 2 or 3 runs an inning. We hit the ball just right at them. They only had 2 strikeouts. These last couple games for us were a bonus . We weren’t expected to be here but the team played the best softball they played all year. We peaked at the end of the season and we gave it our best. Finishing in the top 8 of the state was icing on the cake and Madison Koontz ended her career with 110 hits.”
