Everett, Pa. Coming into the District V Class AA Semifinals, the Lady Spartans (11-10) were the underdog against the number 2 seeded Shanksville Vikings (14-5). McConnellsburg got a run in the first, one in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the seventh to earn a birth in the District V Class A Championship against defending champion Meyersdale, who beat Hyndman Charter 19-4, on Thursday, May 31, at Everett High School at 1:30. This will be the first trip to the District championship in school history for a program that got its start in 1992 when they played an eight game exhibition schedule.

Madison Koontz led the Lady Spartans hitting attack going three for four. Matty Ross, Kailey Swope and Destine Hall had two hits each. Hall hit a 2 run homerun in the top of the seventh and picked up the win from the mound. Lady Spartan Coach, Dana Winters, commented, “Carrie Glee, Julia Lafferty, and Megan Fix all played solid in the outfield today. The team has been working hard  and its paying off . Assistant coach Robert  Koontz has been working on the hitting and assistant coach Doug Seiders has been working the outfielders. It’s all coming together.”
