BOYS LACROSSE
Chambersburg 10, Northern York 3: The Trojans won for the second time in three games to raise their record to 4-7 (2-3 MPC Commonwealth). It was the second time this season Chambersburg allowed only 3 goals.
“Good wing play and doing well on the faceoffs played a big role,” Chambersburg coach Paul Flohr said. “We took a ton of shots (36), which didn’t hurt, either.”
Brandin Cosey led the scoring with 4 goals, while Aiden Brechbill had a pair of goals and an assist.
Also contributing to the scoring were Riley Ocker (1 goal, 1 assist), Thomas Elia, Haden Ocker and Zach Smith with one goal each, and Jace Hopple (3 assists).
Nash Bothe played to an 8-8 draw on the faceoffs, while goalie Jarrett Secrist made 8 saves.
TRACK & FIELD
Chambersburg competes at CC Relays: The Trojans took part in the 57th annual Cedar Cliff Relays at West Shore Stadium on Saturday and produced 3 first-place finishes.
For the girls, the team of Morgan Mentzer, Caroline Hance, Manaisha Houser and Sydnie Gilbert took the shuttle hurdles in 1:06.54, and the sprint medley team of Shannelle Burrowes, Jacelyn Jones, Houser and Abby Yourkavitch won in 4:20.84.
On the boys side, Brock Harmon and Derek Moore won by a large margin (nearly 15 feet) in the shot put relay.
Chambersburg placed second in the team standings for both boys and girls.
Three other boys teams placed second: shuttle hurdles (Thomas Romine, Alan Howell, Connor Wright, Thomas Langdon, 1:10.82); sprint medley (Jonathan Jeffery, Josue Chacon, Jaime Ramos, James Merkle, 3:45.01) and the 4 x 400 (Langdon, Nate Reed, Donovan Moses, Shane Ambrose, 3:39.17).
The girls racked up five runner-up finishes, including: pole vault (Ainslee Ackerman, Jordan Pasi, 14-6); distance medley (Kiera Whitehead, Maddie Kinton, Anna DeGrange, Yourkavitch, time N/A); 4 x 100 (Burrowes, Jones, Aniyah Jones, Tayah Warren, 52.88; shot put (Deja Winkler, Madison Yost, 60-5) and 4 x 400 (Mentzer, Natalie Aquino-Flores, Yourkavitch, Kinton, 4:22.22).
